A:  I believe the knob you are referring to pushes a screw into the water flow so that you can change the spray pattern. Adjusting the tilt gives you control over the distance and it is also possible to spray in less than a full circle. Very handy device for gardens and lawn.

    by|May 22, 2019

A:  No, the knob on top does not adjust distance. like most water sprinklers there is a screw that impacts the water stream flow. To get maximum distance raise the three tripod legs to their highest extent. Note tripod legs go up or down to different heights causing sprayer head to shoot up or down.

A:  That depends on your water pressure. I have mine running on well water and it easily sprays about 45 feet.

A:  No we do not have smaller pulsator heads. The current pulsator heads have several adjustments that would allow watering smaller areas. Go to our contact page at Melnor.com and request a copy of our pulsator head adjustments.

A:  No it must pulsate. You can adjust the area it covers so that it will pulsate in a very narrow band.

                              by|May 4, 2023

A:  There are adjustments on the Pulsator head which will allow a long narrow range but the distance will depend on water pressure : Adjust the clip on the back side at the bottom of the head. (B on Diagram) • When the clip is in the up position, the sprinkler rotates in a full 360 degrees. • When the clip is in the down position the head will rotate between the two rings (A on Diagram). The distance between the rings is the distance the head will rotate, so move the rings until you get the desired coverage area. Adjusting the deflector shield will adjust the distance the water sprays (D on Diagram) • Raise the shield up to get the maximum distance. • Lower the deflector shield into the spray of and the will be reduced

Q:I brought three of these and they worked really well for a time oscillating by about 250 degrees. One of them now seems to jam as it comes to the end of an oscillation and just shoots water in one direction. I can manually touch it and it does one circuit and jams at the same place. I can not find trouble shooting guidance anywhere.

A:  Yes a water timer can be set up to use in conjunction with the 9620. Attached the timer to the water source, a garden hose to the outlet end and connect the hose to the Tripod. A variety of Melnor Timers are available at the Home Depot that will work. A easy to program one zone timer in the image below will allow watering up to six times in a twenty four hour period daily, weekly, every other and every third day.
