Answer This Question

A:  Yes I believe so.

by|Apr 10, 2021

A:  Can be added with a fuel stabilizer. I wouldn't recommend using in a car (especially with catalytic converter). Would only use kn smapp engine applications.

by|May 17, 2021

A:  Yes, Mechanic in a Bottle can be added into fuel that already has another fuel additive added to it. It is EPA registered and perfectly fine to use in vehicles.

A:  I use this in my fifteen year old snow thrower regularly (four cycle). I was originally doubtful that this would work, but it works wonders. I went from engines that wouldn't start to running machines, and I use E0 (ethanol free) fuel in all small engine applications. I have used this in all carburetor gasoline ( two and four cycle) engines with no problems.

A:  will work on any type of engine that has a carburator

A:  Yes. Drain the old gas first if you can. If there is a drain on the bottom of the float bowl, drain the old gas out of the float bowl also. Add this to fresh gas, then add to the tank. I had a similar problem, and after adding the treated fuel I removed the air cleaner, and used ether to keep the engine running long enough to get the new, treated gas into the carburetor. If there is a drain on the bottom of the float bowl, drain the old gas out of the float bowl also. Good luck. Ron

A:  Good morning Dave, I would recommend Mechanic In A Bottle and if that doesn't clean/fix the sticking float I would suggest taking the motorcycle to a mechanic shop.

A:  I would add mechanic in a bottle to the gas tank and let that sit overnight after running the engine a few times and that will unstick the float usually by the next day.

A:  That would depend on your particular application. Directions are printed on the back of the bottle or can be located on the company's website (http://b3cfuel.com/products/mechanic-in-a-bottle). Regardless, they've been cut and pasted below. I purchased an ECHO Pro Attachment 25.4cc Series 2-cycle landscaping tool from an authorized dealer who stated use of this product would ensure a zero resistance service from any authorized ECHO service center within the prescribed 5 year consumer or 2 year professional warranty period. Usage Instructions Small 2 & 4 Cycle Engines Poor-Running Engine: Pour 1 oz Mechanic In A Bottle (MIB) per 1 gallon of fuel into your fuel tank. Start engine and run for at least 15 minutes. Starts working in as little as 15 Minutes! Performance improves over time. Do not drain fuel tank. Non-Running Engines: Drain fuel system completely. For small power equipment (e.g. string trimmers), add 2 oz of MIB into empty fuel tank. Larger equipment (e.g. lawn tractors): Add 4 oz of MIB. Work the MIB into the carburetor using primer bulb or pulling starter cord repeatedly. Starts working in as little as 15 Minutes! For best results, let engine stand for at least 4 hours before restarting. Do not drain MIB from tank, add fresh fuel and follow equipment’s starting instructions. Automotive Poor Running Engine: Pour 1 oz Mechanic In A Bottle (MIB) per 1 gallon of fuel into your fuel tank. Start engine and run for at least 15 minutes. Starts working in as little as 15 Minutes! Performance improves over time. Do not drain fuel tank.

A:  If you use normal unleaded gasoline, I would say yes, because the additive is designed to treat the gasoline by removing water and adding octane to old/stale gasoline. As an added benefit it will remove varnish and clean out carbon build up. It can recondition rubber and plastic components that may have dried out from ethanol. Sorry this sounds like an ad but I wanted to give you as much information as I can so you can make an informed choice.

A:  I recommend emptying the old fuel, and adding MIB to your new fuel to most effectively and efficiently resolve fuel system issues. I did this and got great results. However, the directions on the bottle of MIB indicate that it "restores or renews old fuel", so keeping in the old fuel and adding MIB should work according to the directions. Again, I preferred to empty old fuel add new before I proceeded with adding MIB to take care of the fuel system issues with all three of the engines I used the product with. Good luck!

A:  If you are emptying the fuel you will not need to use the Mechanic in a Bottle until you put new gas in the tank. Normally you use Mechanic in a Bottle to revive an old mower or one that has been sitting for a while with the gas in the tank. I have seen a lot of answer as to why you drain the fuel, one not mentioned is that ethanol absorbs moisture from the air. Water is bad for every component in your mower or snow blower.

A:  Most owner’s manuals for power equipment do recommend to drain the fuel tank. This is for two reasons. The first is that gas will go bad in a short amount of time. The manufacturers do not want their customers to have issues with bad gas. In addition to this, warranty will not cover gas related failures. The second reason is for safety. If the fuel system leaked, it could cause a fire hazard. Using Ethanol Shield in the fuel will keep the fuel fresh for 1 year. But it is still recommended to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Even if the fuel system is drained, a small amount of gas is left in the carburetor/fuel tank and can cause issues if left untreated. When Ethanol Shield is used, the fuel system is protected.

A:  I had a problem with an old John Deere push lawnmower. It ran rough and died after a few cuts. I have been told it might need a carburetor cleaning. I searched online and found Mechanic in a Bottle. It can be found in a local Home Depot too! I poured 1 oz. in an empty fuel tank and let it soak overnight. Then I poured fresh gasoline. 1 oz. treats 1 gallon of gasoline. It started with one or two pulls and it didn't stall. I wanted to repeat the process one more time for better result but it didn't need a second application. I would do it again before the next season begins after winter storage.
