A:  Yes, this item is meant to fit over a 4x4 wood post. The decorative sleeve requires 48" of the 4x4 to be exposed.

A:  Hi Manny, this post is designed to fit over a pressure treated 4x4 post (measures 3.5"x3.5") so will not fit over your existing 5.5"x5.5" post. The only mail post that we have available that will fit over a "6x6" post would be our Liberty Style, Mayne Part number 5805-B.

A:  The plastic is hollow. I attached letters along the side of the newspaper tube with the heavy duty 3m double sided outdoor tape and that worked great. If you really want to hang them I would use eye bolts with washers on both sides and a crown nut (so you newspaper doesn’t get all cut up). The trick would be getting the right length. You could use a second nut on the bottom to be able to tighten. Just don’t over tighten to the point of cracking the plastic.

A:  Hello, yes the newspaper holder is hollow to allow a newspaper to be placed inside. Glue doesn't hold to the polyethylene material. The arm hold plaques up to 15" wide. The wall thickness is 0.125".

A:  Yes it does.

A:  Yes. The newspaper slot is the opening just below the flat horizontal platform where you mount the mailbox.
