A:  I don't think you would have any problem with 50#'s on a shelf. I store 2 crates of milk on a shelf and they weigh approx 40#'s each. If you didn't throw the cases on the shelf I think you would be fine they are pretty sturdy. This is in my refrigerator, however, the freezer shelves are the same so I'm pretty sure I have stuff stored that total weight is close to 100 #'s per shelf.

A:  I check my temps at 6 am everyday and they are consistently -7.
