A:  It is adjustable, There are three 12 in. rods and one 6 in. rod. You can use all rods or one or two. I used the 6 in. and one 12 in. The bottom of the fixture is 27 in. from ceiling. So if you added another rod, you would be 39 in. from ceiling. I am very pleased with the light, have it over my kitchen sink.
