A: I can not speak on what the warranty covers. I do know that if you use some WD-40 on the lock it may help lubercate the tumblers and allow the lock to spin
A: I do have this lock, and after 2 years, I have to go buy a new one. Unfortunately it does not stay Locked at all and can be opened on ANY combination. It has been in direct elements thru the time of usage. Sun/Rain/Cold/Hot ect.
A: None of our locks our 100% weather proof. We indicate that our more robust locks are weather resistant, but still can succumb to the elements. Some locks are more weather resistant than others. Regular cleaning and lubrication every 3-6 months is recommended to keep your locks operating like new. Locks used in extremely dusty or corrosive environments should be cleaned and lubricated every three months. Regular lubrication will also help minimize freezing in cold weather environments.
A: I really cannot recommend this product. I returned one due to the numbers on the tumbler are very difficult to see and use unless the light is just right. This could be a REAL problem with a power control box. I suggest you buy a better lock that has a key override.
A: Yes.. exactly why I tried purchasing it.
A: Are you doing a lock out?
A: I think it is the length of the shackle.
A: The 785DLF has a 2" long shackle whereas the 175DLF has a 1.5" shackle. The body and mechanical part of the locks are identical.
A: The only thing I noticed was the depth of the bale (AKA the shackle).
A: Oops, I just realized I submitted a review for a different product. (Face palm)... I did enjoy this lock and I was impressed after the last lock was next to impossible to get a key in. I like that I can change the combo as needed!
A: I got mine very quick from Home Depot. Easy combination setting. No headache.
A: Yes, you can use this for a gym locker.
A: No. This shackle is too wide/thick for 99% of the gym lockers out there.
A: Yes, however, you should look at the lock mechanism on the locker to make sure the shackle isn't too big for the hole the lock needs to go through. The lock may be a little over kill if you ask me. :) They will definitely take a beating.
A: I bought 3 un aware that they can be opened in less than a minute - security level 2
A: average size numbers - no problem in full sun, but not possible at night without light.
A: Not so much. They are clear, black on chrome but they are small. I wear glasses but I can read them with a little extra effort. It is a good, easy to work lock though.
A: I wouldn't call the numbers 'big', but they are clear and easy to see. I have to use a light to see them at night.
A: Not really, but they are legible in daylight.
A: No, they are directly on the bottom and pretty small. Painted black
A: Not really. The numbers are roughly the same size as all combo locks.
A: Yes that is the main reason I selected this lock.
A: Indeed it does
A: Average, but they do fade after time and if in the elements directly they will no longer work after about 2 years. I am having to replace mine today... it does not lock and opens on ANY combination.
A: At night it will be visible if there is light, if not you will need a flash light
A: I've owned these for over a year and a half. Hot summers and cold winter hasn't affected them.
A: Not Florida here, but Nevada in a zoo setting. Like Florida, we have summers of intense, pounding sun, but it is mostly dry and dusty here. In winter though, we frequently have storms with hurricane force winds that drive moisture into everything. In the zoo setting, the carnivore keepers frequently expose the locks to animal fat on their hands from feeding, which works itself into the locks. The older style combination locks would foul from all of this after 1-2 years, and had to be chemically stripped of all lubrication and properly relubricated. These newer style locks have been holding up very well after about 2 years. We have yet to see one of these locks foul under the aforementioned harsh conditions. About the only thing we don't like about these locks is you cannot scramble the combination with the lock shackle open.
A: Have had it up in deep woods NH this summer. Only been about three or four weeks but absolutely no corrosion and the dials all spin like butter! Don't think you'll have any problems down in FL that a can of WD-40 can't fix...
A: Yes. My brother has used one on his enclosed trailer for months or years. This was in New Hampshire, so lots of rain, maybe not as much Sun. It will just get very hot, like anything else metal.
A: If you don't oil them every month, they only last about a year out in the open in N.C. Mine are completely exposed out on fence posts in a field.
A: With the padlock unlocked you turn it 180 degrees from the closed position and while holding it down all the way set the new combination, then release the padlock.
A: This product does not require a reset tool.
A: These locks do not require a tool to set the combination. There is a specific series of movements you make with an open shackle to get the lock into set mode. The instructions should be on the package, and on the Masterlock website. Here's a link: https://www.masterlock.com/service-and-support/faqs/set-your-own-combination-locks scroll down to the instructions for the M175XDLF Open the .PDF file there, and you will find the instructions. BTW, most newer Masterlock combination locks follow a similar procedure.
A: 1.With dials set at the current code, pull out the shackle 2.Turn shackle counterclockwise 90 degree (1/4 turn) 3.Press the shackle down and turn another 90 degree (1/4 turn) 4.Set the dials to your own combination 5.Pull the shackle back out and it should be reset at that point.
