Q:Is this door hollow, or filled with foam, insulation, wine..?
by|Apr 15, 2020

Answer This Question
A: The door is definitely not hollow core, but I can't exactly say what the interior is made from. I can tell you that the door has a very solid feel and weight, exactly the kind of door you want for a main entry to the house. Gives a great first impression, especially with the Baldwin lock and deadbolt hardware I used. The door is a full 1 3/4" thick and it has the feel of a solid core door. I know that the rails and stiles are solid wood (pine), so any lock hardware you install will have plenty of meat to screw into. I would definitely buy this door again. It's top notch.

Answer This Question
A: Hello PhillyGuy, the bottom rail is the horizontal structural beam that provides support to the door system. When the door sweep is applied and in working order the bottom rail should not be exposed to the elements.

A: The bottom rail looks exactly the same as the rest of the door, so I'm assuming the rot-resistant bottom rail structure is an internal component of the door itself. But you can't actually see anything different about the bottom part of the door, either interior or exterior face.
