Q:What is the actual height of the door frame? I have about 81 1/2 inches to work with. Hopeing I can squeeze it in there. What is the correct rough opening recommendation for the width. Specs say 72 inches but that doesn't sound right if the door itself is 72 inches.

Answer This Question
A: Hello Mark, This patio door is retrofit, which means that it is smaller than a standard door unit. This retrofit size allows for the proper fit of French doors into openings where sliding glass doors were previously installed. The nominal size is 72" x 80" but the actual door unit size is 71-1/4" x 79-1/2" fit for a rough opening of 72" x 80".

Q:This he door size is 60 x 80. Please provide the recommended rough opening and the unit size. Provide size of wood frame. In other words provides the specs

Answer This Question
A: Hello Hlautx, The rough opening will need to be 60" x 80". This is due to the fact that a lot of patio doors are "retrograde" which means they replace smaller sized sliding glass door openings. With this retrograde system the patio doors are a bit smaller than the nominal 60" x 80" and when the frame is added the rough opening required will indeed be 60" x 80".
