Q:I need a solid core pocket door. Do the panel reveals protrude beyond the face of the door? (i.e....

    Answer This Question

A:  Not wanting to mar the beautiful door, we opted to go with the Masonite Smooth Roman 2 panel arched top door, similar in appearance to this, but doesn't have the raised molding and nothing to knock along the sides of the door recess, the moulding sticks out a 1/4" an each side, so you would need a pretty wide pocket and would have a visible gap on each side when the door was closed, yes you can get adapters and make it work, but you run the risk of damaging your beautiful door and there will be a noticeable gap on each side the door, so it doesn't look that clean. If your pocket door is typically closed, then consider the 2 panel arched top Roman, if your pocket door is mostly closed, then I would probably go wit the adapter kit and be careful when opening and closing and going with this. It all depends on what you value most.

Q:Why can't this item be shipped to Washington?

    Answer This Question

A:  probably because it is out of stock in the distribution center that serves Washington, have you checked with local moulding and door shops they can get superior quality products and they come much faster, although it does come at price, it hasn't been watered down to lower the cost that Home Depot and other large box retailers are looking for.

Q:It says in description this door is engineered by component construction to replicate weight & richness of wood doors.

    Answer This Question

A:  It is not a true solid core door, my understanding is there is a honeycomb like hybrid core sandwiched between the two panels. It is better than the cheap flimsy hollow core sold in stores, however, it is lighter and less substantial than a true solid core door. If you are looking at this door and want true solid core, then go to a local moulding and door shop, and they can get them from Masonite, it will be more expensive than home depot, but is a true solid core door. If you're just concerned about aesthetics and a little bit better sound control than hollow core, than this a good choice. However, if you're looking for the ultimate in sound deadening (think of the bathroom door when you have company over and you don't want them to hear) than spend the extra money and get a true solid core. This door is beautiful and is a middle of the road quality door, definitely much better than hollow core, but not true solid core. This is a beautiful statement making door, even if you go with the hollow core in stock, they look GREAT!
