A:  Thank you for your question. The GA7001L 7" Angle Grinder, with AC/DC Switch has a spindle thread of 5/8" - 11 UNC.

A:  It’s 5/8”, but the blades are 7/8” because the nut (flange is 7/8”) . This is how this grinder works best, but if you are creative you can mix spacers and small blades 5/8 or 7/8” to get the clearance for cutoff wheels. Makita does not want it’s customers using cutoff wheels , I think it’s a liability thing? This grinder is best as a 9” grinder( with guard).
