A: yes as long as it doesn't let the cold air escape which will make ur food go rancid. i use it on the side of fridge to hang my knives on magnetic bar which instead of glue i used to magnet to hold up the bar with all the knives so they are pretty strong. hope this helps

A: No, but you can get similar magnets [but not round ] from any old harddrive. They are used to move the heads in the drive. If you aren't going to see them they are great!
