It will work well with any of our shower only trim and valves. It does not matter if you go with a Moentrol or PosiTemp valve and trim. The showerhead will work well with both. A:  Yes, I mounted it on a 16" extension and it still feels solid. No vibration or movement. Flipping the flow valve on the right side does not shake or cause it to move. I used the Moen extension. I am not sure about working outside in CA? The jets are not brass but rather rubber "tips." The showerhead is solid metal so it should hold up well, but I dont think it will last very long in an harsh outdoor environment where there would be chances of ice. The technology on this thing forces the pressure to be greater than most shower heads but there is always just a little water in the showerhead after you are done using it.

A:  As you move the spray lever from its "normal" full-spray pattern to its more-focused, higher-intensity "massage" flow pattern (by gradually reducing and shutting off the flow from holes on the periphery of the solid circular flow pattern and thereby increasing the flow from the holes at the center of the solid circular flow pattern so that at the extreme "massage" position water is coming, with greater velocity and force, from only about 25% to 30% of the holes at the very center of the circular solid flow pattern), the change in flow pattern and intensity is continuous, smooth, gradual, without any intermediate cessation of water flow. The whole operation of moving the lever up or down is very easy and precise, and the movements of the lever modify incrementally the pattern and intensity of water flow. The whole design is very elegant and well implemented. By the way, I would go for the regular, non-environmental version of this shower head so that you can have a complete range of options of water flow when you need larger amounts of water for special situations (muscle soreness, for instance). To be environmentally responsible, you can always reduce the rate of flow of water into the shower head by turning whatever knob, handle, or lever you use to control the flow of water into your shower.
