    A:  very easy to unlock. all you need is a flat head screwdriver and you can pull them up

      A:  I haven’t tried and I only used the bottom piece on my gate to make it look nice. I think with a little wiggling or little force they will come apart. Hope it makes sense.

                      Q:Has anyone installed these slats by skipping every other fence "vertical diamond row"? My goal is about 50% privacy. If so please provide details of results and if you recommend doing it or not doing it and why. Thanks for your time.

                      A:  No I haven't. But I can say inserting the slats in every vertical row still doesn't provide 100% privacy, depending on the angle of the view. Also, the farther away you are from the fence, the more you can see through. If your fence is facing a street, I would suggest installing the slats on all rows.
