A: This control has 4 positions only: Off, Low, Medium, and High. It works well if you don't need a variable speed controller.

A: No, there are not any variable speeds in between the 3 speeds. We do have a variable speed fan control, model number SFS-5E-color, however it is mainly used for exhaust fans. A variable speed fan control is not recommended for a ceiling paddle fan, as it makes the fan motor noisy.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for contacting Lutron Support! The SFSQ-FH is designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which only utilizes pull-chains to adjust its speeds. A fan that includes its own remote or wall control typically uses a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with a third-party fan speed control. As always, Lutron would suggest reaching out to your fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan.

A: It should. Set the fan at the highest speed via the pull-chain switch, and then adjust the desired final fan speed via the switch.

Q:My original question was:
(The lowest speed on my ceiling fan is much to fast for my liking. Will this switch slow my fan down on its lowest setting.)
I am not sure that Lutron understood what I am asking. So I will re-ask the question in a different way.
I have a pull chain three speed fan. On the lowest speed lets say it is 300 rpm. Will your switch have three speeds starting from 300 rpm or will it have a three speed range say 150-300-450?

Answer This Question
A: Lutron recommends setting the fan to the highest setting before installing the SFSQ-F, which will then use its own set of capacitors for speed. For more information on installing please visit https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/033206.pdf

Answer This Question
A: The SFSQ-F is designed for fans which use pull chains to control the fan speeds. Typically if a fan manufacturer provides their own remote control or wall control, it would be incompatible with third party fan speed controls. Lutron would suggest reaching out to the fan manufacturer to verify compatibility with this type of control.
