Answer This Question

A:  For each fan in your application, you would need a canopy module (CM-FQ1) which is rated to control 1 amp. The switch itself just talks to the canopy modules and does not control a load directly.

    Answer This Question

A:  It looks like the fan comes with its own control and if this is the case, this unit may not work for your application. This is due to the fact that fans that come with their own modules normally block third party controls. To verify this, I would recommend reaching out to the fan manufacture.

              Q:Is my fan compatible?

              Answer This Question

A:  You are correct that the MIR-FQ4FM-WH is not a solid state control. Solid state devices would refer to controllers that are fully variable instead of 3-speed, or 7-speed, etc. When you use solid-state fan controls on motors that are not compatible with them, it will typically make the fan buzz or hum. That all being said, this should not have a problem controlling your older style fan as long as the fan consumes less than 1A at full speed. Most fans these days run at about 0.5A, but some of the older larger ones used more energy. The other thing you would need to keep in mind is that this will not be compatible if the fan you are using already has a wireless remote control. If this is the case, the receiver inside of the fan would need to be removed for this to work properly. Other than that, you should be good to go! Answer This Question

A:  Unfortunately this unit does not control the light portion of the fan. Lutron does offer a fan/light combination version however, model MIR-LFQTHW-WH that would control both.
