Q:Why does it show on this site for this model number to pump 110 gph, and several other sites I have checked, shows it pumps at 80 gpm?

    Answer This Question

A:  Chris. GPH is gallons per hour. GPM is gallons per minute. The question was why on this site is it shown as gph, and other sites show it as gpm. With the gph being only 30 gallons more by the hour than by the minute. The question is not dealing with any heights, only the designated flow.

A:  Flow rate will vary depending on how high you are pumping the water. So each pump has a graph called a pump curve that shows the flow rate at different heights. The height is revered to as the "head" At one end of the curve will be the flow rate if there is no head. If it is just pumping horizontally. At the other will be what is called "dead head" This is the point where the pump can not pump the fluid any higher and flow drops to zero. When picking a pump. You first want to determine your head and then the flow rate you desire. Then find a pump were the flow rate you want and head you have is in the middle of the pump curve. This pump for example will pump 110 GPM at 0-5 feet of head. At 10 feet it drops to 80 GPM And at 20 feet the flow drops to zero.

Q:We currently have one, but it is not always triggered by the floater and water overflows.

      Answer This Question

A:  This pump does not come with a float switch. It is designed to be used in connection with a float switch or a float switch panel. When setting up a sewage ejection system the choice of the control system and the setting of the floats is one of the most critical things in making sure the system works well. Float switches are available that work at different angles and making sure they a positioned so that they always take a proper path as they float up is very important. If they snag because they are positioned with two much slack often becomes a problem. Some systems will apply a number of floats and a switch panel. In this situation you have a on float, off float and alarm float. By using this technique you can keep the pump constantly submerged which increases its life.
