A: Yes, you would need a "shorting cap". It replaces the photo-eye, and keeps the light on constant. You would then switch the circuit feeding the light.

A: square tube metal would work or pressure treated lumber 4x4. You can cut a square piece and attach to post or even a round metal pole. You just need a flat surface to attach the fixture.
