Q:I use these fixtures in a production plant and they are very good as far as a light source. I have put in 30 + in the last 3 years, we are having ballast failures, premature failure in my mind. Where can I buy the Ballast for these, as I don't see them in the Home Depot store?

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, the easiest way to replace the ballast is to contact the manufacturer of the ballast (lithonia lighting does not manufacture ballasts for this fixture) Here is the general nomenclature for the ballast you are shopping: GEB10IS In the future I'd recommend LED versions such as: http://www.acuitybrandslighting.com/library/LL/documents/specsheets/Contractor%20Select%20IBE.pdf Tons of energy and maintenance savings (don't have to deal with ballast and bulb replacement ever!)

Q:Can I use LED bulbs with this? Or would I have to re wire it?

                Answer This Question

A:  there are different type of LED replacement bulbs for fluorescent fixtures, some will adapt with the ballast and others require a re-wire (120VAC). These fixtures are great fixtures, I have a dozen and a half. I don't believe the LED replacement bulbs will give an equivalent lumen output.

Q:I have a small shop for working on cars that measures 22' X 53' with a 20' ceiling height and no windows. How many of these fixtures would be recommended and what spacing layout should they be hung?

A:  My shop is 25 x 50 with a 16 ft ceiling. I have 3 lines of 5 fixtures hanging 18” from the ceiling arranged with the fixtures lined up across the 25 ft dimension. It’s daylight in there, which helps my old eyes!

A:  Not really an answer but a comment. I have a 40 x 60 pole barn with 10' ceiling, no windows. I ended up mounting in a 6' by 6' pattern a few inches below the ceiling. I have 500 lumens at 3 feet, more light than normal, but great for me. You might consider lighting the higher area and use task lighting near the floor. I have not found a better fixture that this one.

A:  These do not come with the wire meshing for protection. You should order a different model that has the protection.
