Q:do you have to build the floor to sit it on?

Answer This Question
A: The shed comes with a flexible plastic floor that ideally should be set on a cement slab or a solid wood base, so my answer would be yes, you should build a solid base to set the shed on.

A: This shed does come with a slip-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE) floor that protects against oil, solvents, and stains. However, You must provide a platform on which to assemble your shed. Proper building permit documentation may be required in your neighborhood. Consult all local building codes prior to assembling the shed. Before beginning assembly, you must pour or construct a platform. There are two types:
*Concrete
*Wood Frame.
Select the type, but know the surface must be level and flat before installation. If the surface is not properly leveled and flat, the shed will not assemble correctly. Proper surface leveling will save you time in the long run, so please don’t ignore this step. We recommend a Concrete platform. It will be the most durable and long-lasting choice. The platform you choose must be built above ground in order to avoid water pooling inside the shed. All lumber must be rated for outdoor use.
Detailed instructions on how to construct a proper platform can be found in the product manual which can be downloaded at www.lifetime.com.

Answer This Question
A: Since it is all built with screws, in theory, it would be easy to disassemble. I wouldn't think the plastic parts could taken that many assembly/disassembly cycles though.

Q:My question is based on precipitation. With it being made out of this plastic, does it allow precipitation into the shed? Meaning could you store valuable comics, cards, books, and so forth in there without worrying about it allowing the weather get to it? My main concern is a bad rain storm or a lot of snow. Seems the week point would be the vents, but also concerned about any places where the parts fit together. Siding, wood, insulation, and drywall are there to prevent this on a house. Plastic logically sounds like it would allow moisture in and precipitation to creep in. We already bought two of these and haven't put them together when I realized this concern. I look forward to you addressing the concern.

A: I haven't had any moisture problems in the two years. Mine sits on asphalt.

A: Our Shed products are weather resistant, but not water tight or water proof. Water can get between the seams of the roof panels which is then collected by the truss channel and drained outside the shed. If you plan to store valuables inside that you wish to remain free of moisture you will want to protect them with some other type of container in addition to the shed itself.

A: I have had it for two years in Michigan. So far, have not seen any issues with rain or snow. However, I don't think I'd store valuable printed stuff in it. It would be easy to break in. Also, it can get quite hot jnside. I also have to say that I built a 2x4 wooden frame inside and it's bolted to the roof struts,so it is very solid. Also, I have the extra reinforcement struts for snow. I don't remember if those came standard or not.

Q:Can you add a door on the side?
by|Dec 11, 2018

Answer This Question
A: This particular model does not have a side door, but we do have other models that have both a door on the end and the side. Model 60127 would be the closest to this one. Home Depot may be able to special order this for you, or you can order directly from the manufacturer at www.lifetime.com.
