Q:Is there any difference between the Liberty 35 mm 105-Degree 1-1/4 in. Overlay Soft Close Cabinet Hinge and the Everbilt hinge of the same specifications? If so, what is the difference, is one better quality and/or offers better warranty?
Please advise.
Many thanks!

A: I replaced the hinges that came on my cabinets with the Liberty soft close hinges. It was as easy as taking off the old hinges and putting om the new. Some minor adjustments required but they were all in the built in adjustments of the hinges. I would use them again.

A: MikeM, Thank you for your question. One in sold by Everbilt and the other is sold by Liberty, the warranties are both limited lifetime. Best, Customer Care Team

A: There should not be a difference, because liberty makes the hinge for everbilt. I found a difference going from non - soft close to soft close and called liberty and they assured me there
was no difference. I found them not to be a direct replacement, but I can't figure out why they would not work. The gap between my doors grew when they closed.

Q:Can I just replace one hinge on a cabinet (so, one soft-close and the other a regular, traditional hinge)? Is it a best practice to keep both hinges the same? Will only one soft-close hinge put too much stress/weight on the hinge? Thanks!

A: MikeM, Thank you for your question. You will need to replace all hinges if you are converting to the soft-close version. Best, Customer Care Team

A: I bought the exact amount of soft-close hinges required to replace ALL of the hinges that were on the cabinets in our condo per my contractor’s instruction who installed them. If he had told me (I trust him explicitly after knowing him for over 20 years) that one on each door would suffice, I would have tried to get away with half the cost. It’s worth it, believe me. Made such a huge difference in the kitchen and bathrooms. No more slamming doors and drawers!

A: I find best practice is to have both same because it may effect how cupboard hangs. There are adjustments but better to save your old, unbroken hinge for another cupboard!

A: Jessie, Thank you for your question. Our non soft close hinges cannot be made into soft close. We have a damper that is a separate component that is installed to the top of the frame of the cabinet. They can be found with model number 790304. Best, Customer Care Team

Q:Why do these only work on face frame cabinets? I have a in-wall AV cabinet that I want to put a door on and don't see why this wouldn't work to cover the 3/4" plywood sides?

A: Corey, Thank you for your question. The 1-1/4” overlay measurement has to do with the position of the door when it is closed. A door installed with this hinge will overlap the side by 1-1/4”, which is much more than is necessary for a cabinet with ¾” sides. It wouldn’t harm anything, but would probably look odd. I would suggest using a standard full overlay frameless hinge such as model # HC11SFC which is sized for ¾” sides. Best, Customer Care Team

A: Actually.....it can. Because I did it. I already had the same hinge. Just without the soft close mechanism. So I bought the hinges with the soft close mechanism.....popped them out of the hinge....then popped them into the hinge on my cabinets. Works great.

Q:My cabinet will be installed next to a wall on the left with a piece of molding covering the gap. Can I use 1/2 inch overlay there and 1 1/4 inch overlay on the opposite side which will allow equal amounts of the face frame to be visible?

Answer This Question
A: It will probably require careful measurement and construction of the doors and frame to keep everything looking even and centered, but there is no mechanical problem with using 2 different hinge overlays.

Q:Do these hinges adjust three ways or just two? The 1/2 inch overlay adjust three ways but not sure about the 1 1/4 overlay.

Answer This Question
A: Hello Pete, These hinges also adjust 3 ways, in the same manner as the ½” overlay hinges. The 2 adjustment screws allow for adjustment in 2 directions with the slotted mounting slot allowing for vertical adjustment. emccollum
