      A:  They are to hold the outlet or switch against the drywall when installed in a box that may not be flush with the wall. In cases where the box is flush they can be snapped off as to not cause the cover to not fit snugly

          A:  yes you can if it is a 20amp circuit (not15amp). Typically found in kitchen or bath

          A:  The tamperproof version is designed to protect children.. ie bedroom use. However why would you have a 20 amp circuit in a bedroom? Outside of the need for protection (ie bedroom) I would prefer to use this version
