            A:  No, the wood is not pressure treated. The conditions of the item being outdoors will vary according to your locations weather and the maintenance of the item over the ownership of your item. KidKraft does suggest using an oil based sealant to help prolong the longevity of the item. - KidKraft Specialist

              A:  Item 00130 does come with a mesh cover to help protect the sandbox from small animals. It ties onto the sides of the sandbox. The image here does not show this but you can find additional images at www.kidkraft.com and search for item 00130. - KidKraft Specialist

                A:  There is a cover, but it is not very useful. It does not go over the wood edges of the sandbox or the seats. It barely covers just where the sand is. I bought a drawstring tarp to place over the entire sandbox. It works ok, but if there is such a thing as a tarp with elasticized edges, that may stay on better.
