Also, mounting rings are recommended for installing our round and rectangular glass vessel sinks. A:  You need the mounting ring if you have a vessel sink. This is what the sink sits on , on top of your counter and seals everything up. This drain is designed for use without an overflow

A:  The length is long enough for any vanity. I have a wooden vanity with a thick granite top and my vessel sink is a thick glass. I was concerned that this would not fit. However it does and it comes with everything needed. The sink ring does have a washer. I now have no leak or rust. My 22 year old son was able to install this with no problems. Quality material. I don't think I will have to replace this unless I change the style of my vanity.

A:  No, but using it makes for a better installation in my opinion.

A:  Installed my vessel sink without the mounting ring - works fine - sink base is a little bigger than ring diameter, so using a mounting ring would create a very difficult space to clean under the sink.

A:  Yes you need both. Will leak and spin without it.

A:  Thanks for your inquiry. For our Round and Square Glass Vessel sinks - yes - a mounting ring is recommended for the installation. Mounting ring will rest between the sink and the counter top creating a small space between them. Thanks
