A:  I use the basin rack to place items on that are hot but need to be washed in the sink. I hate putting very hot items directly on the porcelain. Also .... it’s a great resting spot when washing vegetables that need to drain a bit before cutting. Many uses.

The most important use is protecting the floor of the sink from dropped items, pan bottoms that may scratch, etc. Additional uses include many common every day kitchen tasks when cooking and cleaning up. Hand wash dishes and allow to air dry, wash fruit and vegetables, set hot items to cool, set leaking bags or jugs to avoid drips on the floor, etc, the list can go on and on. A:  We have found it very convent to drain hand washed dishes at times and drain washed veggies too. Never had one before, but find it has countless uses Day by day.

A:  I place dirty dishes here and can still run rinse water that drains easily around them. Larger skillets seem to block the drain. This keeps the sink bottom cleaner too rather than letting dishes, pots or pans sit directly on the bottom. I also will let smaller numbers of hand washed dishes dry here rather than on the countertop.

A:  It is used to keep the items being washed off the surface of the basin. It reduces black marks on the sink. Occasionally a piece of flatware falls through, but is easily removed.
