Both the product overview comments and the reviewer above who stated that the maximum cutting diameter is 3 mm are both wrong. 3mm is the maximum diameter that the smaller Knipex model 9561150 model will cut. This product is the larger model 9561190 and is rated by Knipex to cut 1/4 inch (6mm) diameter wire rope with no issues, and that is the max diameter wire rope that Knipex rates it at. You can go to th Knipex website and confirm it. Model 9561150 max wire rope diameter cut is 3mm, and for model 9561190 (the 7 1/2 inch model these comments are covering) the max wire rope cutting diameter is 6mm (1/4 inch).

(The 24 gauge wire is 0.5106 mm) They also are in a smaller size (5 1/2") which seems to be what you are looking for. This product can be purchased on homedepot.com as well!
