Q:We purchased some valves Model: K-2972-KS-NA; we have read the data sheet and it indicates that it requires volume control K-2974-K-NA; our concerns are: 1. Does this K-2974-K-NA volume control require an additional trim? 2. How does the K-2974-K-NA fit?

A: Hi Aracelly, this is Lisa with Kohler Co. I am happy to answer your question. A thermostatic valve will require a volume control. Each valve will require its own trim. The thermostatic valve is plumbed first and upward from that will be the volume control valve. If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-4KOHLER. We are glad to help! Thank you for choosing Kohler.

A: Hi Rodher, my name is Meli with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist with your question. With two Mastershower volume control valves K-2974-K you would be able to control your two accessories independently. This may also be accomplished with one volume control valve K-2974-K and one transfer valve K-728-K-NA. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

A: Yes, "Master" means main shutoff control. Use with Thermomtic type Kohler valve!

A: Yes. This valve controls volume from full-on to full-off. Note it does not control temperature. I just remodeled a shower and bought two of the control valves along with one Master Shower 1/2 inch thermostatic valve. One of the volume controls is for the main shower head & one is for the hand shower.

A: Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. Yes; the control valve will shut the water off when installed in conjunction with a thermostatic valve. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

A: Yes it will shut off the flow. I haven't had good luck with that feature. I'm on the 3rd cartridge and they all drip a little.

A: It is not a "shut off valve". It is more like a faucet. It does shots the water off when you done showering. You can also control water pressure with it. It requires a trim over it. In my installation it is between Temperature control valve and diverter.
On attached image from bottom to top: Temperature control, volume control, diverter.
