Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for a good question. The pricing you see on-line for this window does not take into consideration impact resistance as this window does not include that feature. If you need a window with impact resistance, JELD-WEN does offer a variety of them through the in-store special order catalog. If you are interested, please visit a store near you and ask a millwork associate to quote or order what you need.

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest. This particular window does not come standard with tinted glass. It does come standard with glass unit configuration including 1 lite of Low-E 366, 1 lite of clear annealed glass, and argon gas fill. A variety of other window features, benefits, and glass options including tinted glass units are available through the special order program. If you are interested, please visit a local Home Depot store and allow an associate to help you further.

A:  Yes, this does have LowE glass.

        by|May 3, 2023

A:  KT, you may be confusing Low E with tinting. Low E glass is not the same as tinted glass. You can get tinted glass windows from JELD-WEN or you can add tinting film to the glass on already installed windows.

Q:Should I take out the windows I am replacing first before I take the measurements for the new windows?

A:  Thank you for allowing us to assist you today. If you do not notice the specific window you need on HomeDepot.com, our special order catalog (available in stores) offers a tremendous variety of additional products to choose from. For this type of window (v2500 double hung) we are able to special order size 27.5” wide x 52.5” height. If you are interested, please visit a Home Depot store near you and allow a millwork associate to assist you in quoting and/or ordering what you need via the special order catalog. A:  The existing windows do not need to be removed to measure for new windows. You can measure as follows : To Measure Width: Measure between the jambs at three points: top, middle and bottom of the window opening. Measure from the surface of the jambs, not from the trim strips or parting beads in your old window opening. Use the smallest of these three measurements to order the window. To Measure Height: Measure from the high point of the sill of your window (the surface closest to the inside of the window) to the top of the window opening. Make three measurements: one at the left side, one at the center and one at the right side of the window. Use the smallest of these three height measurements to order the window. To Measure Depth: Ignore all pulleys and parting strips when measuring for depth dimensions, as they'll be removed for replacement window installation. There must be at least 3 1/4 inches of opening depth between the inside window trim and the outside blind stop strip. This much area is necessary to accept the depth of the replacement window.

Q:Are the dimensions of the product inclusive of the mounting fin?

              Answer This Question

A:  A. Thank you for your inquiry. The net or frame dimension of this window is 47 ½” wide by 59 ½” height. The integral nail fin/flange is not considered to be part of the window dimensional measurement and is intended for use in new construction installation applications only when laid over framing lumber or sheeting. There are many factors to consider when using a window in a replacement application. Most of our on-line windows (including this one shown) are standard with new construction framing sizes in addition to the nailing flange. If you have need for replacement windows using retro-fit frame-types and/or custom sizes, a Home Depot special order may be a better solution for you. If this is the case we encourage you and/or your installer to visit your local Home Depot store where a helpful associate may be able to assist you in placing an order for the desired product using the special order program instead.
