A:  Yes they can.  I would recommend cutting the same amount off of either side to keep the door looking symmetrical and avoid having one side panel wider than the other side.  I do not know if cutting the width of the door will affect any type of warranty that might come with the door.  If you’re worried about that I would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly and asking them to clarify this.

A:  Yes, the holes need to be drilled. The door also has to be notched for the hinges if it mounted that way.
