A:  Thank you for your inquiry. The pet door opens upwards and closes downward using two balances, one on each side of the unit, like a single hung window. The balances are metal tension rods. Just like a single hung window, if the unit is not operated correctly by using both hands and raising straight up, it can go cockeyed and cause some minor issues with operation. This is not a defect. Issues that may occur concerning the balances are easily corrected. We do have videos on our website regarding balances and how to maintain them, and also pet door operation. A:  Thank you for a good question. JELD-WEN does not offer an after-market pet door insert for use in our vinyl sliding patio doors. Home Depot may have such a product. Please visit a Home Depot store near you for assistance.

A:  The item has a fixed pet panel opening measures 12" x 18". And pet patio door is ideal for small to medium sized pets.

A:  Thank you for your interest. We are not able to offer this vinyl sliding patio door with pet door to include blinds between the glass option. We do not have blind inserts that fit in the pet door portion of the door.

We do offer an extra-large size pet door that measures 12 inches wide by 25 inches height. Unfortunately, this is the largest pet door opening we offer.
