A: No, I finished it with Varathane "satin" clear oil based. I wanted the natural wood color without the yellowing of a varnish or shellac

A: The table is unfinished, meaning the wood is bare and not stained. However, the surfaces are smooth, and ready for staining.

Q:How tall is this table?
I get that is 36 inches round but 36 inches tall doesn't make sense for eating.

A: The assembled height is listed as 30 inches tall, not 36 inches. That seems about right from my recollection. It's shorter than standard countertop height.

A: The dimensions of this table are 36" x 36" round with its leaves up, 24" x 36" the leaves down, and its height is 30" high.

A: There are two version of this table. One is 42" in diameter, and the other is 36". From the picture, it looks like this is the 36" one, but we can't be sure.
On the 36" table, the drop down leaves are 6" wide each, so if you fold them down, the table is just under 24" wide (or deep - depending on your perspective). Hope this helps!

A: When you say child, do you mean shorter then 30 inches high?...If so, you won't have any problems...This table is actually pretty sturdy. Now please be careful, because any table could be tipped over. I'm about 130lbs and I've leaned on it while bending down to pick something up - no tipping. Of couse I wasn't putting my full weight on it. I hope this helps Toni.

Answer This Question
A: Because I’m an awesome parent my two year old often climbs onto this table without me knowing it. Still hasn’t tipped over so I’d say you’ll be okay.

A: If his upper body is over the table, it possibly will. Just sitting and eating with elbows on the table it is not a problem. I have an 11 and 9 year old and there has been no problem.

A: I bought this table for my Dad's small kitchen. The table is very sturdy as long as it is on a level surface. It does not tip over when pressure is applied to a fully extended leaf.

A: I put mine in a breakfast nook so I don’t use chairs with it often, but four of us can set our plates and glasses pretty comfortably. You wouldn’t have room for much else in the center though.
