Answer This Question
A: The EJ500 uses an electronic switching element ("triac") which is not compatible with the electronics inside many CFL and LED bulbs and the resulting conflict can result in damage to the timer, bulb, or both.

Answer This Question
A: The EJ500 has a maximum load rating of 500 watts and ONLY works with with incandescent lamps (can NOT be used with LED flood lamps), so the flood lights would need to be (a) standard incandescent, and (b) 60 watts each or less. The model ST01 timer, however, has a maximum load rating of 1800 watts (which would allow using eight flood lamps up to 200 watts each) and works with LED bulbs as well and would be a better choice in this application.

A: In order to answer your question, I would need to know the total wattage of the 8 lights.
If the total wattage is less than 1500 watts, then yes it will do the job. If your total wattage is more than 1500 watts, consider changing some of the out to LED lights to get the wattage down and then it will work.

Answer This Question
A: Yes, the timer's load rating is within the circuit rating so this is an appropriate configuration.
Please note that the EJ500 is not compatible with and cannot be used to control lighting transformers, compact florescent bulbs, or LED bulbs and can only be used with incandescent bulbs with a minimum wattage of 40W.
