Answer This Question
A: Karen, I don't think you would need a grounding mat. However if you plan to use radiant heat under your wood flooring please check with the wood flooring manufacturer. Some wood flooring can be used with radiant heat and some is not recommended for use with radiant floor heat. If you find that your flooring is suitable for radiant heat I would suggest that you use an OJ Electronic UTN4-4999 thermostat and this has a floor sensor and also several heat limiting settings to chose from. This available on line at Home Depot.

Answer This Question
A: Van, It's a metal alloy mesh. Please note this is not required unless you are putting heat in a very wet environment such as a shower which I wouldn't recommend. Always use a GFIC breaker. The 3' x 20" mat has a ground wire.

Answer This Question
A: I'm not sure of the actual make up of the metal, it's a galvanized metal. However please note that unless you intend to put our 3' mat in a shower or other extremely wet environment a grounding mat is not required as all of our current mats have a ground wire. You are also required to have a ground fault breaker.
