Q:How loud is this, I'm hard hearing and its for my son with autism

    Answer This Question

A:  I bought the alarm mat to place outside our front door with the mat outside and the power/chime part inside, feeding the thin wire through the space on the hinged side of the door. Our dog would look through the door's side window after being outside. This would allow us to hear her and let her in. It's loud enough for us to hear three rooms away from it. I'm glad we have it.

A:  Manufacturer state: Alarm volume: 105dB; Chime volume: 90 Db

A:  Got this for my mother in law who is also hard of hearing. She used it to alarm her when her husband, who had dementia, would get out of bed in the middle of the night. She said it was Really Loud!!

Q:Just discovered that I sleepwalk, which is really scary. I live in a 3 level house so there are stairs. Could I set this up by the exit door of the room I sleep in.or next to the bed?

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes you can. As soon as you step on it it will sound the alarm. Not sure how easy it is to wake up someone who is sleepwalking though. Or is it to alert someone else that you are sleepwalking?

    by|Apr 3, 2020

A:  Yes, you can set it up wherever you want. It's pretty thin and flimsy. We found it best to put a small carpetted bath mat on top of it so you don't trip on it or the power cord.

A:  The Mat is really good . Probably good for many uses . I used one in the floor by the bed . My hushand had a medical problem and couldn't walk by himself . This is almost like the alarm on a hospital bed , It let me know as soon as his feet touched the floor

A:  yes i have mine under a mat in the entry way to my shop to tell me when someone enters, like a door bell with out a button. my service area is a different area than room i usually am in

          by|Jun 30, 2019

A:  Yes this mat will fit nicely under a rug so when husband steps on it it will trigger.

            by|Jul 2, 2019

A:  It depends on the weight of the rug. It should not exceed 1 lb per squared inch.

              by|Jul 2, 2019

A:  fit under rugs. my dog sets it off-cause it's for him.

                by|Jun 30, 2019

A:  I don't see why not. If you're a light sleeper it should be loud enough to wake you too. Remember though, it will probably also startle him. We placed it right next to the bed when we used it, not down a hall. Just have to make sure the wire doesn't get in the way. I wouldn't cover the speaker with the rug or you won't hear it.

A:  Yes it will only ring the first time it gets stepped on, but will not keep sounding if continued to remain on it. I don't think it can e adjusted. At last I don't know of a way. Tell me if it is adjustable, not that I need to do it..

A:  This mat is configured to alert either by loud 105 dB alarm (1 time) for approximately 30 seconds or, sound a 90 dB “Ding Dong” chime 2 times.

                      by|May 5, 2023

A:  It does shut off if no motion detected. Very sensitive. Continues if weight is shifted. Cannot be adjusted to illuminate lighter objects. Worked perfectly for my 9 pound puppy when he left the bed in the middle of the night. I have a chest at the foot of the bed and he leaves the same direction each time to get to his stairs. Perfect!

A:  Thanks for the question. Yes, the alarm will shut off after 30 seconds in Alarm mode or 2 cycles in Chime mode. No, there is no sensitivity adjustment. The alarm will be triggered by about 1psi of pressure.

A:  No, you may not. The triggering circuit is not designed to power up any electrical load. Plus, it would void the warranty.

A:  The sound will com out from the small box that connects to the mat. The wire is 30 ft long.

A:  Yes, it will make sound when people step on the mat. There is a wire of 30 ft long connecting the mat and the alarm unit, so you can mount the alarm unit somewhere within 30 ft from the mat. We have also considered development of a wireless unit which would trigger a chime alert within a few hundred feet. We'd be happy to hear your feedback on that, if you'd like to get in touch with us at info@idealinc.com. Thanks

A:  The alarm/chimes only sound where you place the box. The mat itself does not make a sound.
