A:  We do not recommend this installation. The window should not be installed over another existing window.

Q:can this be used in my basement ? into a foundation wall? if the nail fin can be removed?

    Answer This Question

A:  You can special order this window in a replacement style frame or with a flush flange, both of which would be through-jamb mounts. This one has a nailing fin, but if you remove it there would be no way to install it. It's best to go with the replacement or flush flange style for that application. This would be appropriate for a basement application. Special orders can be made at the store with the help of an associate.

Q:Since this slides in from the inside to the outside and it has the final around it to put screws in place to hold it. Once you get it held in place is there a snap on cover to go over the interior and the exterior?? My opening is 26 1/2" octagon opening for a 26" octagon window just wondering what fills in the 1/2" gap all the way around?? Thank you

          Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. This window should be installed from the outside rather than the inside. You would have 1/2" clearance overall, meaning 1/4" on each side, which gives you space to square the window in the opening. Please review these detailed instructions which should help answer your questions: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/2c/2c713dca-6fe9-41ac-8773-ca919bf1f994.pdf (The instructions are for a square window, but the installation process is the same).

            Answer This Question

A:  You would first need to convert the opening into an octagonal shape with a clearance of 26.5" x 26.5" and then install using the nailing fin supplied. You can special order this window in a replacement style frame through your local store.
