Q:Can these be used for spark plug removal??

Answer This Question

A:  Although these could be used to remove a spark plug, I don't recommend it.  The Insulator is ceramic and can be broken rather easily if the socket is not on the spark plug properly.  A spark plug socket has a rubber isolator the helps to align the socket and protect the spark plug (especially the ceramic insulator) from damage.

A:  Darren, These are not designed to be used for spark plug removal/installation. These do not feature the rubber boot to protect the porcelain on a spark plug. We do offer these four sizes of spark plug sockets: 5/8" (H3DSPSKT58), 13/16" (H3DSPSKT1316), 3/4" (H3DSPSKT34), 18mm (H3DSPSKT18MM)

Q:The torque wrench I have has a 1/2 inch drive. Shaft length for the hitch ball is 2-1/8”. No idea what size nut, whether it is standard or metric and what size nut is on the car. Sorry, new to this.

A:  Jeff, This set only goes up to 22 mm and does not cover the most common sizes of trailer hitches. We do offer a Trailer Hitch Wrench designed for this, it covers the 2 most popular sizes of hitches, 1-1/8" and 1-1/2". These cover hitch balls with a 3/4" or 1" shaft respectively

A:  I specifically purchased these sockets for high torque needs. The maximum size that this particular set is includes is 1 inch. Home Depot may have larger set options. Also, I’m not sure if Honda’s are metric or not but Husky offers a metric set as well that is just the same quality. I am pretty sure, though, that your hitch ball nut is too large for this set and the socket option is too short to fit over the 2 1/8” bolt. I would purchase or borrow a regular wrench vs socket set that is at least 1 foot long to get proper torque and it doesn’t care how long the bolt,

A:  I would not think so. While they are very useful, I gave experienced slipping just trying to tighten nuts on fixtures.

A:  Although these might work, ( depending on the hitch size) they are NOT the ideal tool for that job. A standard crescent wrench is better for three reasons: 1- it adapts to ANY size, so no worries about metric or imperial 2- fits around the base of the hitch where the nut is. 3- Allows you to apply PLENTY of torque but with "feel" so you won't over tighten. Hope that helps!
