A: Your question is dependent upon the surface of the post you are installing. When I want the most accuracy we use 2 of these levels on opposite sides and split the difference of what the vials are telling you, you get an almost perfectly plumb post.

A: This is a bubble level float designed to set wooden/metal posts. This is not for precise leveling applications that would measure a tolerance level.

A: It is distributed by Kapro Tools Inc and they would warranty it if it fails. Pretty hard to damage this tool unless abused.

Q:Is this for 4x4 square wood posts or just round metal posts? I ask because I used it on a wood 4x4 post installation and it made it a nightmare.

A: Not sure what the "nightmare" was....but I used it on 4 X 4 posts with no problem...just have to make sure it is snugged up to the corner of the post.

A: Yes, It comes with an elastic strap to attach it to nonmagnetic material. I used it to level wooden gates in my barn, it worked great.

A: I found that this works well on both round, metal posts as well as 4x4 posts. My only drawback to the item is, on mine, the stretchy strap that secures it lost the "stretch" and it would slip a bit on some wooden posts.
