Q:Is this suitable for use in a Craftsman Pro 27 gallon?? All the manual states is, Synthetic Blend Non-Detergent. I have been using Porter Cable brand, Made by MAT Holdings. Same company that made the compressor. But have trouble locating it locally.

A:  If the craftsman (which is most likely a Campbel-Hausfeld) recommends 30w oil; absolutely. In general this will work in any compressor requiring 30w oil.

A:  ISO 68 = 20W SAE... based on my research.

    by|Sep 23, 2020

    A:  It is listed as a 30W.

    by|May 5, 2023

A:  Define 'heavy duty'. This oil is fine for most all compressors up to 10 hp. Beyond that you need to check with mfg.

Q:Seems it would be very easy to put viscosity on the label. Or in the meantime, at minimum, to put the viscosity in the "Specifications" and under "Product Overview" on the Home depot website.

    Answer This Question

A:  Since they recommend it for their own compressors they don't have to put the viscosity on the container. A 46 viscosity oil is usually a hydraulic oil and you need to go to one of the brands that make it like Chevron, Shell, Phillips, etc..

A:  Just called the Husky customer service line - they were extremely professional and willing to help. The guy tried to find the weight & couldn't, so he reached out to the manufacturer who confirmed that it's a synthetic blend "between a 23 and 30 weight." I'll be using this in my Makita MAC5200, which recommends SAE 20W for 33.8°F - 78.8°F and SAE 30W above 80.6°F - not very ideal considering you could easily straddle those ranges within a single day. Based on all this, I think the Husky oil should be suitable for my needs as I'll be crossing over between these ranges but unlikely to see the extremes of either. I do agree that this info should be written on the product, though.

A:  absolutely not, you need to get manufactures recommended type lubricant for the compressor pump, preferably a synthetic or synthetic blend especially if you are in a cold climate that reaches near 35 degrees or below, for cold starts are the hardest and cause the most wear on startups. Ingersoll Rand all season select synthetic compressor lubricant is a very good lube for reciprocating type compressors. I believe this is for type T30 compressors. Its a bit pricey but the extended life of the pump is well worth the additional expense as IR states they extend their service warranty 2 additional years if the consumer uses this lubricant always in the pump.

A:  This oil is meant to be added to the compressor oil reservoir. There is a different oil that is dripped into the air tool fitting each day of use to lubricate the inner parts of the tool.
