A: Hi Mark. For most ceiling fans, you will not need a double threaded downrod, which is one reason why this particular downrod is more expensive. If you are using it indoors, you also would not need an all-weather downrod. We hope this helps!

A: Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot, Mark. This particular downrod is designed for all weather and is a 3/4" diameter model while the $16.00 model I was able to locate is not all weather and is a 1/2" model.
