Q:Do you have to install these with finishing nail or can you glue them to drywall with liquid nails

A: You should use either 16 or 18 gauge nails, and using liquid nails is more of a preference. For example, on an outisde corner, where the piece is more apt to be loose, a little adhesive (liquid nails, caulk, or wood glue) will help hold that piece to the wall. A long run as well.
On a smaller piece, or an inside corer you are most likely not going to need adhesive.
