Questions and Answers for Honeywell 1 Gal. Cool Mist Humidifier

A:  The instructions say to change it when it gets overly hard, crusty, and yellow, or every 60 days. It does "dry up" rather quickly. you're supposed to flip the filter every time you fill up the tank to keep it wet. I've had mine almost 2 months and the filter definitely needs to be changed.

A:  This depends on usage. The more you use it or let it run the sooner the filter will be need to be replaced. Running it constantly will require you to refill the 1Gallon tank. Using bottled water will reduce the replacement period of the filter.

A:  At least every 4 months depending on how much usage it gets. Follow the care and usage guide.

A:  I'd say no to cleaning on a daily basis. I only empty mine once a week to rinse it out even though it is not dirty. At the same time, I soak the filter in distilled white vinegar for about 15 min. to clean it, although as of yet there is very little discoloration to the filter and I have hard water. I've only had it for a month though.

A:  The task of the filter is to get water where the fan can distribute it into the room. It is NOT a cleaner. If you run this in a dusty room you will clog up the filter and get less humidity and make the fan work harder. To avoid complications and minimize overall cleaning effort, we rins the reservoir every day and try to sanitize once a week. Again, by cleaning BEFORE it is obviously dirty or layered with sediment you can ensure that it will work as well as possible at humidifying.

A:  It does not require daily or even weekly cleaning. There is a light that signals when cleaning and filter replacement are required. So far (two weeks) the light has not come on! That said, I will replace the filter and clean with white vinegar when the indicator light comes on since that keeps the germs at bay and the unit functioning longer!

A:  I haven't cleaned mine once in the 2 months I've had it. It could use a quick wipe-down in the tank, but it's not dirty by any means. The filter doesn't clean the unit itself. I guess it's up to you how often you clean it.
