A: As off 3/10/2017 These filters were available on line in the size you are looking for. Also there are a number of brands and different performance ratings for all of them I searched under Dept.=heating & cooling= air filters, than choose the size I needed from the list and it brought up the available mfg's.

A: I do not know for sure. I would expect the worst case would be that they restrict air flow too much. Keep in mind that the higher the last number of the filter, the finer they are and would restrict airflow more than a lower number. Depending on the price and availability of a 4" filter, it may be worth stacking 4 one inch units.

A: I use these filters in a heatpump which is a combination cooling and heating unit. They go in the air return duct to filter the return air. I don't know what you mean by "not forced air" All ducted systems are forced air.
