Q:How steep of cross slope is safe with this Honda engine

Answer This Question
A: Hello, The HRX217HYA handles hills well. We don’t recommend mowing a steep slope, i.e. over 20 degrees, because it can starve the engine of oil and cause damage. We also recommend mowing across slopes, rather than up or down, because it provides better traction and is safer for the user.

Q:Which lawn mowers can be left outside when not in use?

Answer This Question
A: My opinion would be that any of them could be left outside. A cover is a necessary item. Without a cover the life span of the mower will be shortened.

A: No lawnmower should be left outside unless you have it completely covered. Also if you store it outside don't leave it sitting on dirt. Put it on cement or wood. It will rust up fast if sitting on dirt.

A: I do. However, I do keep it covered and under my decking. Never has been an issue. I also keep up with Maintenance as recommended as well.

A: This model does not have the blade stop.
by|Jan 2, 2019
A: No it doesn’t.
by|Jan 1, 2019
A: No It does not. When the handle bar lever is disengaged there is complete engine shut down. That's about the extent of it.
by|Dec 31, 2018
A: No, not a dedicated blade stop. My old Toro had one, and it ended up being nothing but trouble. With a dedicated blade stop, the blade has a separate drive belt for the blade. Then there is a steel cable to pull the belt tight, and start the blade. I had problems with the cable breaking, the belt not holding tight enough, and finally the tension spring gave out. This Honda is a GREAT mower, and unless (for whatever reason) you need a blade stop, get this one... Worth every penny. I have two of them. Honda is the best mower.

A: No. There is no way to stop the blade while leaving the engine running. Releasing the handle will stop the engine. That said, it starts up very easily, especially when already warm.
