A:  Each hook on the top is S-shaped with a hook on the top for a hat and the s on the bottom for jackets or sweaters. Each top hook does double duty. Each top hook is one piece. So I would say that it is 8 hooks but the entire tree holds 12 items.

A:  I was worried about that. I wanted 12 hooks. The center 4 hooks are plenty big enough for a coat. I would call it a 12 hook rack.

A:  It does have 12 but you'd be hard pressed to use them all. I guess they say 8 so you only plan on going 2 deep per side (quadrant)

A:  There are 8 hooks - 4 for coats, sweaters, etc. 4 for hats/long coats. There are 4 small hooks near the center which I think are for accessories, but the "main" hooks are a total of 8. So, it is a 8-hook rack, with 4 small accessory hooks. :-)

A:  Feet are spread apart in about a 2 foot circle. Mine is very stable, but i do have all the coats and hats evenly distributed around it.
