A:  The pendant is constructed of thin metal channel's that hold the glass. The metal has a finish on it, but I suspect, even under a covered patio, that the metal would rust quickly when exposed to the elements. Also, the quick install into a recessed light fixture might not be secure enough to hold the pendant if wind began it swaying. So, I would say this pendant is better used indoors.
