There might be additional "bunching" if you purchase blinds that are too long for your window. I would suggest visiting our website at www.homedecorators.com/window.php to customize shades to fit your window!

Q:How to do outside mount with blinds
by|Apr 29, 2013

Answer This Question
A: Hi there amshef,
You are correct in understanding that outside mounting is possible with these blinds, in fact it's doable for just about every blind you'd be able to order through us. Most styles of blinds, like this one in particular, come with brackets that work for both inside or outside mounting, so no need to purchase anything separate.
Traditionally, outside mounts are placed directly onto the trimwork and will measure from edge to edge of the trimwork width-wise; top edge to bottom of sill length-wise. You can add to these measurements if you'd like, but that is completely at your preference.
Given that your trimwork is relatively flat, mounting onto the trim will not be difficult at all. If you do not wish to drill into the trim or it has ornate details or ridges, you can mount them onto the wall above the trim. This would normally necessitate shimming that would allow the bracket to move outwards past the depth of the trim. Easiest way is to add low-profile furring strips above the window and being the bracket. Use those to mount the brackets to and they will extend past your trimwork now, allowing you to mount your blinds.
