For the inside mount, if your opening measures 46.5" then you would order the 46.5" blinds with the actual width of 46". The 1/2" difference allows the blinds to be installed without any complications and gives a 1/4" of "wiggle" room on each side. For an outside mount, we would suggest that you purchase blinds several inches wider than the window to allow for maximum privacy when needed.
