        Q:if a bicycle has multiple gears, dose this affect the speed if it has been motorized?

        A:  Motorizing a geared bicycle should not affect the speed. This is due to most motors being placed in the hub or on the wheel itself and therefore have no interaction with the gearing system. The gearing may come into play with an assisted motorized system, but that would only be when the user pedals and affects the speed themselves.
