Answer This Question

A:  Yes you could but this is much to expensive to use for this purpose. I would use RV antifreeze found at your local box stores.

Q:We live in the northeast and we just had a pondless waterfall build in the back yard.We would like to keep it running it in the winter too. Does anyone know if this product will prevent freezing and if its safe for the pump (6800GPH) we will empty and replace the water in the spring

    Answer This Question

A:  Cryo-Tek is designed for use in heating and cooling systems - closed loop. It is not intended for environmental release. Certainly, any flora and fauna in your waterfall will not be favorably affected. Likewise, its color and chemicals may adversely affect the materials of construction of your waterfall. Thus your planned draining and replacement may not completely purge the Cryo-Tek and its residual effects. Lastly, while this antifreeze "sees" the wetted boundaries of circulating pumps, those are HVAC pumps. You will need to assess the chemical compatibility of your pump's seals, impeller, etc. Check your pump's product data sheet and/or contact its manufacturer. (By the way, the flow rate of your pump affects none of this.)

          Answer This Question

A:  One should not use any antifreeze unless there is a chance of freezing. Plain water transmits more heat exchange than it does with any antifreeze materials in it.

A:  No it does not. I have used this for 18 years now.

A:  There is heat transfer with this product depending on the mixing ratios. We follow the Dow Frost charts for propylene glycol that can be found online.
