A:  We would not recommend that application. Henry 101 Non-Fibered Foundation Coating is a solvent system with fairly aggressive solvents that would probably emulsify the #15 felt paper.

A:  Burnis, Henry 101 Non-Fibered Foundation Coating is NOT recommended for interior use. Henry 101 is a solvent based system and should be used only in exterior applications.

A:  Overkill, we have not tested how Henry 101 will react to having a self adhesive membrane applied to it. We do know that you can paint over it with a water based paint once the Henry 101 has had the opportunity to cure for at least a week in warm weather. Henry 101 is a liquid non-fibrated asphalt in a solvent system that cures to a shiny black slick surface.

A:  Brett, you should NOT use Henry 101 Non-Fibered Black Foundation Coating to coat an asphalt driveway. Doing so might cause the driveway asphalt to emulsify over time since Henry 101 is a solvent based system. You can use Henry 532 Driveway Asphalt Resurfacer. Henry 532 is an easy stir gel formula that is rubberized for long life and durability. It is fast drying, reduces tracking, fills and seals rough surfaces and cracks and offers a 7 year warranty. Henry 532 can be special ordered through the pro desk at all Home Depots.

A:  Tomm, we are not sure of what you need to accomplish here. The application of a product like Henry 101 Non-Fibered Foundation Coating to a surface that is crumbling will not fix the issue. While you could apply Henry 101 it would be similar to painting over sawdust. Henry 101 Foundation coating should only be applied to a surface that is in good sound condition.

A:  Jose, Henry 101 Non-Fibered Black Foundation Coating can be sprayed on if you have a heavy duty spray rig, such as a Graco 733 or equal, able to produce at least 2,000 PSI and spray 2-4 gallons per minute, ½” ID hose with a .040-.060 tip.

A:  David, Henry 101 Non-fibered Foundation coating would be used over a water based sealer if you needed to apply it in temperatures lower than 50 degrees. Solvent based products like Henry 101 can be applied at 40 degrees.

A:  Isrosa, we estimate the DFT or dry film thickness at about 6.4 to 8 mils per application. All liquids will be a 16 mils wet film thickness if one gallon is spread over 100 square feet. DFT is calculated by taking the wet film thickness times the % of solids by volume. The DFT is the solid content left on the surface after the liquid has gassed off or evaporated. So if the solids by volume of the liquid is 16 mils thick on a 100 square foot area and the solids by volume of the product is around 40 to 50 % then the calculation would be 16 X 40% = 6.4 mills or 16 X 50% = 8 mils. If you applied 2 gallons per 100 square your mil thickness would be roughly 12.8 to 16 mils.
