A: You can use any kind of foundation for a DIY kit as long as there is airflow underneath the wood floor to prevent moisture build up.

A: 6 bundles of 3-tab shingles are required to finish assembly along with 3lbs. of 1" roof nails.
If you desire to assemble with drip edge & felt paper. (recommended, but optional)
50 ft of drip edge
At least 144 sqft. of felt paper

A: We ended up using only 5 packs of shingles and bought one roll of felt paper. Also bought some tar in a tube (like caulk) and used the shingles to make ridge caps, based on how the book explains. Used the tar to tack down the flaps on ridge/+ nails.
